Style 489 Victaulic Coupling is specially engineered for 1-1/2″ to 12″ (40–300 mm) piping systems and features a heavy stainless steel housing designed for pressures up to 600 psi (4135 kPa) on stainless steel pipes. For larger sizes like 6″ to 12″ (150–300 mm) and DIN sizes 139.7 mm & 165.1 mm, they can handle pressures up to 1200 psi (8273 kPa) on standard wall or SCH 40S duplex pipes. The housing key clamps the bottom of the groove, forming a rigid joint.
To achieve this rigidity, it is necessary to torque the nuts as specified in the product guidelines. By doing so, Style 489 provides a strong and stable connection, reducing any unwanted movement in the pipeline.
