Fed. Spec. Eye & Eye Swivels are high-performance components engineered for demanding rigging and lifting tasks in marine, industrial, and construction sectors. These swivels are available in various materials including stainless steel 316, alloy steel, carbon steel, and super duplex steel—each offering unique benefits in terms of strength, corrosion resistance, and durability in extreme environments.
The design of the eye & eye swivel helps reduce stress from twisting and tangling of ropes or chains during operation. These components are especially useful in systems where constant tension is applied, as they help preserve the structural integrity of the connected equipment by allowing limited movement and flexibility under load.
Manufactured to comply with Federal Specification RR-C-271F Type VII, Class 2, these swivels feature a forged construction for enhanced reliability. They include weight load markings and are CE certified in many cases, ensuring safe usage in critical applications. Sizes typically range from 1/4″ to 5/8″, and some variants support working loads up to 5,200 lbs.
A distinctive feature of these swivels is the extra-large eye opening, which makes them compatible with oversized ropes, chains, or cables. Although these swivels are designed to align and prevent rotation stress, it’s important to note that they are positioning devices and not intended to swivel freely under load.
